The gods of Greek mythology
The Greeks of Ancient times had a very interesting religion. They believed that there were many gods and that the gods had power over nature. The gods were,
Zeus, god of lightning, ruler of the sky, and chief god.
Poseidon, god of the seas and brother to Zeus.
Hades, ruler of the underworld (a place the Greeks believed to be were people went after death), god of wealth, and brother to Poseidon and Zeus.
Hera, goddess of marriage and married to Zeus.
Hestia, goddess of the hearth.
Dionysus, son of Zeus and god of wine.
Athena, daughter of Zeus and goddess of wisdom.
Ares, son of Zeus and god of war.
Aphrodite, goddess of beauty.
Hermes, son of Zeus and god of thieves, merchants,anyone who travels the road.
Hephaestus, son of Zeus and god of the forge.
Apollo, son of Zeus, (twin brother of Artemis) and god of the sun.
Artemis, daughter of Zeus, (twin sister of Apollo) and goddess of the moon and the hunt
